No, I'm not talking tennis here. I'm talking adoption. Yeah, I know that the two items don't seem related, but watch me tie it all in... :)
I have gone to Buckners for my 1 hour of post-adoption counseling. It was interesting, enlightening, and stressful. The lady was REALLY nice, but all the same, I'd rather not have to do that again.
They told me all kinds of interesting statistics, and made sure my expectations were reasonable (they were - so there to everyone who thinks I'm unreasonable...) They made sure that I was aware of the way things could work out (the good, the bad, and the ugly)
Now we get to the "ball in my court" part. Now that I have done the counseling, signed the release, and got all the support paperwork etc. I have to write a letter. Until I write it and mail it to Buckners, the whole process is on hold. So if I don't write a letter, nothing happens. Uh, duh, won't be long in writing the letter... I also get to send a few pictures - hopefully they don't scare her off! lol!
Anyway, next week I'll write the letter and find the pictures. I'll keep you posted...

Sheri, (Melissa's Mom here)I think it is great that you are looking for your biological family, although they can never take the place of the family who loved and raised you.
One of my best friends at work, Page, was contacted a few months ago by a 1/2 sister that she didn't know she had. The sister was raised in England by an adopted family. When she searched out her birth mother, she found out that her mother was a 16-year-old who had an affair with a married man, and gave her up for adoption. Although her birth father is now deceased, she located her 1/2 sister (my friend, Page) and her 1/2 brother. Page recently went to England and spent the week with her 1/2 sister, and they absolutely love each other and their families. Life can hold very wonderful surprises if you have an open heart and mind! I'll keep you and your search in my prayers and thoughts, and hope it exceeds your wildest dreams!

PS--We will miss seeing you guys this New Years. Hope your holidays are wonderful.
